If you are sending a large but lightweight shipment, where its volumetric weight exceeds its actual weight, the cost of the shipment is calculated on the space your consignment takes up on the aircraft. This is a standard IATA method. To calculate the volumetric weight of your shipment, simply multiply the length (cm) by the height (cm), multiply that sums by the width (cm), then divide the total sum by 5,000.

Documentation Required

Commercial invoice

A commercial or proforma invoice is required when sending goods to countries and territories outside your origin country or customs union. All non-document shipments must be accompanied by an invoice. This is essentially a declaration containing all the details of a transaction and is used by customs authorities to assess if duties or taxes are payable. A commercial invoice is used when goods are part of a commercial transaction or intended for resale. A proforma invoice is used when sending goods of no commercial value (for example, when sending samples).

PROHIBITED AND RESTRICTED COMMODITIES

Omaha Star Express services are governed under the shipping and customs regulations. There are certain commodities which we are prohibited/ restricted to accept

  • Complete firearms, ammunition, explosives/explosive devices including inert
  • explosives and test pieces, air guns, replica and imitation firearms
  • Illegal goods, such as narcotics
  • Counterfeit goods in breach of IPR

  • Toy guns, firearms parts, Tasers, and replica ammunition

  • Banderols / tax stickers
